Being of noble timber, teak is very well accepted by the international market and by the population of greater purchase power.

Its price is significantly superior to mahogany and is periodically quoted by ITO (International Tropical Timber Organization), of Japan.

In addition to the demand for logs, there is a great search for sawed pieces of short dimensions (ultra-short and short lathes, priced between US$ 700,00 to US$ 1.200 / m3. This product is already being utilized in the market and comes from the first thinning-outs of the forests implanted in Mato Grosso, Brazil.

Since decades the demand has been superior to the offer, leading to continuous price increases in US Dollars (average of 12,6% price increase during the last 10 years).

Main producers: Indonesia, Myanmar, Srilanka, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Laos and Cambodja. These countries detain 90% of the world´s teak forests.

The global production is estimated in 3 million m3.

The main part of this production is consumed by the producing countries.

Only 500 thousand m3 are offered to the international market.
